to Open Tasting Rooms in Woodinville’s New Wine Walk Row
New development is part of five-acre Schoolhouse District project that also includes adaptive reuse of the historic Schoolhouse No. 23 Building and provides a first-of-its kind destination experience with multiple dining, residential living, wine tasting and recreation options.
MainStreet Property Group, along with partner HAL Real Estate, has announced that two acclaimed wineries based in Walla Walla, WA. – L’Ecole No. 41 and Valdemar Estates — will open new tasting rooms this spring and summer in Woodinville, WA. The tasting rooms, which will be located in Woodinville’s new Wine Walk Row complex in The Schoolhouse District, will be the first Western Washington locations for both wineries.
“At L’Ecole, we’ve long-considered expanding our flagship Walla Walla Valley location into Seattle and especially the Woodinville area — but nothing has ever turned our heads quite like Wine Walk Row,” said Marty Clubb, Managing Winemaker and Co-Owner of L’Ecole No. 41.
“The overall quality of The Schoolhouse District plan, the ingenuity of the team members from MainStreet Property Group bringing it to fruition, and the promise of an exciting new wine district carved out in the heart of a city that truly celebrates wine appealed to us like no other,” Clubb added. “Their professionalism was so reassuring, and it was easy to share in their vision for a top-rate guest experience. We’re thrilled to be opening in such a special place.”
“We are beyond excited to welcome L’Ecole No 1 Winery and their team to Wine Walk Row and The Schoolhouse District,” said Kelly Price, President of MainStreet Property Group LLC. “When we met at their Walla Walla winery, located in a historic schoolhouse of its own, it was an obvious fit. Having them now be a part of The Schoolhouse District project in Woodinville is outstanding.”
Tradition of Excellence
Founded in 1983 and focused on producing world-renowned wines that reflect the unique terroir of the Columbia Valley and its estate Walla Walla Valley vineyards, L’Ecole No. 41 will provide a selection of distinctive and expressive red and white wines at its new 1,415 sq. ft. location in Wine Walk Row.
Designed to echo the charm and warmth of its flagship tasting room located in the Historic Frenchtown Schoolhouse in the Walla Walla Valley, L’Ecole’s newest location will include spaces where visitors can gather for relaxed, tasteful experiences, enjoy L’Ecole’s internationally recognized bottlings, and connect with friends and wine lovers both old and new.
In Woodinville, L’Ecole will offer a tasting experience for those discovering their wines for the first time, focused on education about the Walla Walla Valley and the company’s varietals — as well as an enjoyable space for those who already love L’Ecole’s wines, such as the renowned Ferguson or other winery-exclusive bottlings.
Slated to open in July, 2022, the tasting room will kick things off with a month of new vintage releases, special tasting opportunities and select library offerings pulled from their Schoolhouse cellar in the Walla Walla Valley. L’Ecole’s Vins de L’Ecole Wine Club members will also be invited to join a special grand opening event.

Valdemar Estates
“As a fifth-generation family-owned winery, we’re so pleased to be continuing our wine journey to include our very first location in Western Washington at ‘The Schoolhouse District’ project,” said Jesús Martínez-Bujanda, fifth-generation CEO of The Valdemar Family. “When we decided to expand, we knew we didn’t want to open just another tasting room in Woodinville — we wanted to offer something special to the community — and I think that is what we’re doing with our new location in Wine Walk Row,” continued Martínez-Bujanda.
Valdemar Estates’ location will occupy nearly 3,000 square-feet extending into a spacious outdoor patio that celebrates the indoor-outdoor connection to all that The Schoolhouse District has to offer. Valdemar’s new tasting room will provide a vibrant collection of wine and food experiences. When all is said and done, a total of 11 tasting rooms are expected to lease space in Wine Walk Row. The spaces include individual roll-up doors and ample room for outdoor seating.
“We are so pleased to welcome Valdemar Estates to The Schoolhouse District,” said Kelly Price, President of MainStreet Property Group. Price continued, “Valdemar is a storied Spanish winery with a multi-generational history of making amazing wines. This has continued in Walla Walla and now it will be accessible to the Woodinville community. I look forward to Valdemar being one of the destination wineries in Woodinville. Their tapas dining program will also complement their amazing wines.”
About Valdemar Estates
Originally founded in La Rioja, Spain as Bodegas Valdemar, Valdemar Estates expanded into the U.S. in 2019 and became the first internationally owned winery to open in Washington State with wines from La Rioja and Walla Walla served alongside each other and complemented by a full-service kitchen offering elegant plates of traditional Spanish cuisine.
Valdemar Estates chose The Schoolhouse District as its next location for both ease of access and location. By opening a tasting room and restaurant in a residential neighborhood, Valdemar Estates aims to provide a world-class wine and food experience for all to enjoy — with the hope that locals, tourists and wine collectors alike will all feel at home in the new location, whether coming for a small bite of food, a wine flight, or to have an exquisite dinner. Valdemar Estates’ new tasting room is scheduled to open in April.
The Schoolhouse District
With the City of Woodinville and HAL Real Estate as its partners, MainStreet Property Group completed the transformative ‘The Schoolhouse District’ project in the heart of downtown Woodinville in the fall of 2021.
Adjacent to the downtown soccer fields and City Hall, The Schoolhouse District provides a first-of-its-kind mixed-use destination. It includes the 264-unit residential community District Flats; the fully-restored historic Schoolhouse No. 23 — future home of Walla Walla Steak Co. & Crossbuck Brewing.
Wine Walk Row is part of the five-acre Schoolhouse District project that also includes adaptive reuse of the historic Schoolhouse No. 23 Building and provides a first-of-its kind destination experience with multiple dining, residential living, wine tasting and recreation options.
The project’s architecture — standing side-by-side with a restored and repurposed schoolhouse and substantial landscaping, art installations, public walkways and seating — creates a unique visitor experience.
