Grand Opening of Avennia’s Estate Vineyard and Tasting Room
on Red Mountain Scheduled for Weekend of June 11-12
Avennia Winery, headquartered in Woodinville, WA., will celebrate the grand opening of its first estate vineyard and tasting room on Washington’s acclaimed Red Mountain the weekend of June 11th and 12th. Guests will enjoy a library tasting, live music, local food trucks, and beautiful vineyard views.
The library tasting is complimentary for club members; for non-members, the tasting fee is $25, waived with a $50 purchase.
The tasting room will be open from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 11 and from 11 a.m.—5 p.m. on Sunday, June 12, with the last tasting beginning one hour before close. Reservations are not necessary.
In August of 2021, Avennia acquired the former Tapteil vineyard, tasting room and onsite residence (all located on Red Mountain) from Larry and Jane Pearson. Renowned grower Dick Boushey was retained to manage the vineyard. First planted in 1984, the vineyard is home to Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. In 2023, Avennia will release its first estate wine to its club members. Plans are in the works to utilize the onsite residence as a guest house, with a tentative opening sometime this summer.
Avennia was founded in 2010 by winemaker Chris Peterson and managing partner Marty Taucher. They source fruit from some of the finest vineyards in Washington, and a minimalist approach is used in the winery to allow the fruit to speak for itself. The wines have consistently received high scores from wine critics and in 2017, Chris Peterson was named “Winemaker of the Year.” The team plans to keep production in Woodinville, as well as its original tasting room.
The new Estate Tasting Room on Red Mountain is located at 20206 E. 583 PR N.E., Benton City, WA. 99320. For more information, as well as for directions to the Red Mountain Tasting Room, call Estate Manager Eli Traverse at (509) 588-6870.
